I keep pondering recently whether there really is such a thing as ‘ethical business’, and if selling people ‘stuff’ can ever be truly sustainable. It can be so depressing to look around and see the millions of businesses who are only interested in the bottom line and in how many units they can sell. And that to achieve more sales and the business Holy Grail of ‘growth’, some businesses make things that can’t be repaired or that will break easily.

But then I see brands like Patagonia, and although I haven’t researched the ins and outs of what they do in depth, they do seem to be one of the good guys. They actively promote repair of the products they sell, so much so that they publish these great Repair & Care Guides to help us fix our stuff!
